As of March 14, 2011, Health Net began sending notices to California consumers informing them that their personal information was likely included on one of nine missing server drives that have gone missing from its Rancho Cordova facility. Health Net has established a consumer hotline, where calls about the security breach are answered by the Debix Identity Protection Network, which will provide affected consumers with two years of free credit monitoring services and identity theft insurance. Consumers who have received such notices from Health Net should be assured that it is not a scam and need not be concerned about contacting Debix for information or to sign up for its services, which have been arranged for by Health Net.
